With 1:49 remaining in the game, Commanders kicker Joey Slye missed a 48-yard field goal attempt, giving the Bears (2-4) the ball at their 38 and an opportunity to grab the lead.

To get to Washington's 5, quarterback Justin Fields had to run 39 yards down the left side of the field.

However, Fields threw to receiver Darnell Mooney on fourth-and-goal from the 4, and Mooney intercepted it short of the goal line to give the Commanders the victory (2-4).

Coach Matt Eberflus remarked, "Our defence did an excellent job of rising up there when we didn't get that fourth down and forcing a missed field goal."

Then, to give ourselves a chance to win it at the very end, we drove it the full length of the field, but we didn't punch it in.
